Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., recently sponsored a bill that attempts to amend the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for the first time in 46 years – and remove religious exemptions for faith-based organizations that receive federal funds.
According to the bill, it would affect “licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, psychosocial rehabilitation specialists, and any other individual determined to be appropriate by the Secretary.”

Last Friday, a federal judge denied student Jennifer Keeton's request for an injunction prohibiting Augusta State University from expelling her while her case is being decided, if she does not attend "diversity sensitivity training" on homosexuality.
Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), a Christian legal organization representing Keeton, appealed District Judge J. Randal Hall's decision to the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit on Monday.
Keeton, 24, is pursuing a master's degree in counseling at ASU. According to ADF lawyers, after her professors learned of her biblical beliefs regarding homosexual conduct, they imposed a mandatory re-education plan on her.

Just how many members of the U.S. Congress could safely and accurately be called "socialists"?
The list is getting bigger all the time.
Last week, WND's Aaron Klein reported that Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy, D-Ohio, was listed as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America – a group that has also maintained close ties to Barack Obama over the years.
By my count, Kilroy would make at least 82 members of the House and Senate who are avowedly socialist.

A conservative group has unveiled a series of online tutorials designed to train conservative and Tea Party activists ahead of the summer Congressional recess and November elections. Liberty Central -- founded by Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas – is partnering with the Leadership Institute (LI), the organization founded by long-time conservative activist Morton Blackwell, to produce the training videos and accompanying Web site, LibertyCentralTraining.org.
In a memo obtained by CNSNews.com, Liberty Central told its members that August, when Congress is in recess, is “accountability month.” The group is urging conservatives to lobby their elected representatives in a repeat of last summer’s contentious town hall meetings, where legislators faced an unexpected surge of voter displeasure.

The Pacific Justice Institute is asking the US Supreme Court to review a case involving government censorship of faith-based high school curricula and discrimination against religious students.
PJI has filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Catholic League and Ignatius Press in Association of Christian Schools International v. Stearns. This brief asks the Supreme Court to review a recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision, which approved actions by the University of California system that effectively prevent private Christian, Catholic, and Jewish high schools from teaching courses in accordance with their faith traditions.
